Commercial offices are all to often seen as an easy to achieve project where little can go wrong. The need for an accurate as built survey is often overlooked or deliberately ignored to ‘save money’, with ‘’we’ll use the existing plans, how far out can they be?’’ being the common excuse. That is until the MEP design needs to be re-configured because the air handling units don’t fit, causing extensive delays. Then the partition layout cannot be achieved on site and the specially commissioned board room table cannot be used because ‘it doesn’t fit in the space’.
Commissioning an as-built laser scan survey at the start of the design and build process, negates these costly delays, ensuring the survey data is correct and truly fit for purpose from day one.
